IEC Organizers Call to the Grassroots: Let’s Unite to Advance the Urgent Struggle to Free Iran’s Political Prisoners and Oppose US/Israeli War Threats

In the midst of the January 2026 uprising, massive arrests, raids, and massacres in Iran, and constant US/Israeli war threats, the IEC entered the raging debate over this crossroads in hosting a joint program with the UUSF Human Rights Working Group, which included a vigil and film program. Significantly, we received several powerful solidarity statements from political activists in California, Seattle, Europe and Colombia, as well as inquiries about what people can do. We actually need to hear from you in the IEC community about what you WANT TO AND CAN do in this urgent struggle to stand with the street and incarcerated rebels in Iran based on the politics of the IEC as concentrated in our two slogans. Here are our initial suggestions for what you can do to take urgent action online and on the ground.

1) Organize a simple vigil in solidarity with the political prisoners and against U.S.-Israeli war moves and threats. Hold a discussion/sign-making get-together the night before (e.g. street corner, campus quad, community center, etc).

2) Unite with friends and/or activist groups to do a screening of the film Coup 53 in classrooms, churches, mosques, synagogues, cultural community centers, bookstores, and bars, and invite an IEC organizer to do the talk back via Zoom.

3) Circulate broadly, via social media and email, the solidarity statements from the recent UUSF program, which speak powerfully to the historical background and current situation in Iran.

4) Donate to the IEC, sustain it monthly, and ask your colleagues, family, and friends. See DONATE box for address and payee.

5) Follow the IEC (@iranprisonemerg) on Instagram, Facebook, X, and subscribe on YouTube; repost, share or offer to co-post.

6) Print flyers and posters from the IEC Share/Print page and take to political or cultural gatherings around US/Israeli genocide in Gaza/Lebanon, and against US/Israel-Iran war escalation.

7) Join our email list by signing the Emergency Appeal or send us an email at info@freeiranspoliticalprisonersnow.org. IEC email blasts are consistently sent to about a thousand people, with various rates of forwarding. This is one way to spread this campaign with an emphasis on people-to-people anti-imperialist solidarity.
